江西的古色文化在全国独领风骚，唐宋八大家，江西占三家。元青花、汤显祖、八大山人，白鹿洞书院、鹅湖书院等等，书写和传承了中国的千年文化史。

江西是著名的红色摇篮，中国革命的摇篮——井冈山、人民共和国的摇篮——瑞金、人民军队的摇篮——南昌、中国现代工人运动的摇篮——安源，人民邮政的摇篮——赤色邮局也诞生于江西。

红色的历史，成就了中国邮票史上的红色珍邮——苏区邮票。苏区邮票是中国革命史的见证，现已成为集邮界的珍宝。在苏区发行的全部邮票中，江西占其中的三分之二以上。此外，在中华人民共和国成立后发行的邮票中，以反映南昌起义、井冈山革命根据地、红都瑞金等红色内容的邮票也已达80余枚。

绿水青山，是江西的财富、的优势、的品牌。打造绿色江西，一直是江西省委、省政府的重点工作，全省森林覆盖率在全国各省中排名第2，空气质量也是全国良的，全省现有世界遗产地5处，世界文化与自然双遗产地1处，世界地质公园4处，国际重要湿地1处，风景名胜区14处，国家5A景区10处。

南昌起义旧址群

作为八一起义总指挥部的江西大旅社，我国邮政以这座大楼为图案多次发行过邮票。

普通邮票发行过三次共7枚。普11和普12中各有3枚，图名均为“南昌八一大楼”，但刷色和面值不同。

普16中面值3分的邮票图名为“南昌起义总指挥部旧址”，此称谓较贴切。

这些邮票的图案都是采用侧视的角度，突出表现这座建筑的整体风貌，雄伟壮观，富有立体感，楼顶飘扬的红旗，象征着军旗从这里升起。江西大旅社地处南昌市繁华的中山路上，由南昌资本家包竺峰始建于1922年，1924年建成，同年旅社开始营业。

中华人民共和国成立后，人民政府接收了江西大旅社。1956年在大楼内成立了八一起义纪念馆筹备处，修缮房屋，布置陈列。1959年10月1日正式对外开放，1961年被国务院公布为首批全国重点文物保护单位（所辖五处革命旧址——南昌起义总指挥部旧址、贺龙指挥部旧址、叶挺指挥部旧址、朱德军官教育团旧址和朱德旧居）。国家4A级旅游景区。1997年，被中宣部命名为全国百家爱国主义教育示范基地。2008年元月起，八一起义纪念馆对社会实行免费开放。
